A Printed Version Of Wikipedia Is For Sale At US$500,000

To demonstrate the futility of visualising human knowledge, New York-based artist Michael Mandiberg has converted Wikipedia into print.

He wrote a code to convert the encyclopaedia’s 11.5 million entries (in English), and printed them out in 7,600 volumes. Mandiberg will hold an exhibition, titled, “From Aaaaa! to ZZZap!” In it, he will upload a 11GB compressed file of what he has done, and print it on Lulu.com. It is estimated that printing the entire Wikipedia will take two weeks.

The exhibition ends after the project is complete — and also with a party. These volumes will be up for grabs for US500,000.

What do you think? Would you buy this?
