You Can Visit ‘Hobbiton’ In New Zealand

In case you didn’t know, Hobbiton — yes, the cute town that Bilbo Baggins lives in — really exists. Built in the town of Matamata, the Waikato region of New Zealand, this film set has been transformed into a permanent tourist attraction.

Tours are available, although you have to get through the sheep farm to finally get to Hobbiton. You will see 44 hobbit holes, a double arched bridge, and  The Green Dragon Inn and Bar. With the tour, you get to learn about how this set was created, and some behind-the-scenes fun facts about the Lord of The Rings and Hobbit movies.

And  guess what? You get to eat and drink like Bilbo and the dwarves in The Green Dragon Inn and Bar. Food and craft beer, anyone?

How to get there: Drive for two hours from Auckland, and rest at the nearby farms during your stay. This is a must for any Lord of The Rings fan.
